Laurel’s Garden – May ’16

We are having the soaker hoses in the irrigation system replaced with dripline, so planting is on hold. We are letting the bolting winter lettuces and other greens and herbs go to seed for collection for next year. Cucumbers & a few squash have been planted. Beans, okra, peppers & eggplant starts are waiting to be planted in the garden. We are harvesting tomatoes, strawberries, Tuscan, kale, chard, mint, basil, fennel seed. The fig tree is covered with figs. It looks like they will be early this year.

How do you collect and store the seed from the lettuce? I have several that have bolted and not sure what to do with them. Thanks!
